Project Description

Zoobibi Melbourne, designer: Hana Hakin, Stella Collective

The impressive concrete service counter for Zoobibis cafe area. It is seven meters long with front cantilever and side waterfall ends. It forms a welcoming and generous space for customers to sit with plenty of room for serving and display. The sink and fridge apertures and a recess for LED lighting strip along with its massive size, made this a challenge for our on-site casting team, but you can see the skill that went into the formwork, casting and hand burnishing of the surface. Quartz aggregate was used and is subtly exposed and polished on the front edge — a great feature giving a sense of the internal structure and a smooth surface people love to touch. Customers and staff love it!
